Talent Vault are proud to support Starship Dear Steve, Thank you once more for taking the time to read Flight Report. In November, fourteen children flew on the Starship National Air Ambulance Service. Thirteen of those children made it to Starship’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) thanks to you. There, those critically ill or injured children received specialist care they couldn’t have got anywhere else. And thanks to your support, we flew a child to a hospital closer to their home. There, they received care closer to their whānau, allowing their family to take tentative steps towards life back in their own community. Patient update: Jordan Napier 2-year-old Jordan took his second flight to Starship during the winter RSV outbreak. After being born at just 27 weeks, Jordan’s lungs weren’t properly developed. This leaves him vulnerable to respiratory conditions, and after taking a turn for the worse at Hawkes Bay Hospital, he needed Starship again. Thanks to you, he made it there. After a short stint in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and on the wards, Jordan was well enough to go home again. Mum Tammi is grateful for people like you helped her little boy get to Starship. And she’s also relieved at the prospect of a regular old Christmas at home. Our plan is to get the whole family together, have some fun time with the kids, and create some family memories, she says. That, and eating too much kai of course! A wonderfully regular Christmas at home, in other words. Thanks in part to people like you. As the year draws to a close, thank you so much for your support in 2021. We’ve achieved so much this year thanks to the kind, generous support of people like you. I can’t wait to share exciting stories and updates with you in the new year. Ngā mihi nui, and have a very merry Christmas. Adrienne Tollemache Donor Care Manager, Starship Foundation

1) Covid-19 has forced the consumer market into the Digital world. Many companies need to upgrade their current platforms, supply chains and ERP systems. If companies are not digitally E-ready, they will be left behind. 2) In the past when we had IT skill shortages, we were able to import talent from overseas. Who knows how long our borders are going to be shut? 3) The big banks are being required to comply with a new banking standard BS11 which requires them to implement significant change to the way they handle customer data. This effectively means having to store critical information within the NZ borders. To manage this data will require a large increase in their IT staffing levels and take many IT specialists out of the marketplace. 4) Westpac have announced they are moving their IT systems to Auckland with 250 staff affected. How many will want to move from their hometown and who will replace them? 5) During Covid-19 some fantastic IT Contractors have been released onto the market while companies’ handbraked critical projects. Those companies can only delay those projects for so long before it starts to hurt the business 6) Most available IT contractors are negotiable on their charge out rates and will never be cheaper or as readily available.

Law was passed this week to change the way Contractors are paid. It doesn't matter if you are a Sole Trader or you own your own business you are effected. If you work through a Recruitment Company or Contract Directly to an Employer the tax laws have changed. This is effective from the 1st April 2017. It is important you get independent financial tax advice now. http://www.ird.govt.nz/Contractors/labour/labour-hire--business-arrangements.html
